4. How far away is the apartment from my work, school, etc?
When renting your apartment, keep these questions in mind. Gas/transportation can be expensive over time. You want convenience to play a partial role in your choice.
5. Names, addresses and phone numbers of previous landlords:
It always helps to have positive feedback from people who know you. Especially past landlords. Have this list handy.

However, if you intend to take an apartment for a shorter duration, then you should opt for a month-to-month or a half-yearly lease. Landlords usually charge an advance payment of two months for apartment rentals. Remember also to figure out if you would have to pay any amount as security.
